Plumbing Tip

Water Heaters sometimes make undesirable noises when they are running, storage type water heaters sometimes accumulate a buildup of minerals in the bottom of the heater causing them to crackle or rubble while the burner is running. Draining the water heater rarely cures this problem, but replacing the water heater may not be necessary. You may want to try draining the tank and treating it with a gallon or two of vinegar depending on the size of the tank, let it sit in the bottom of the tank for 24 hours and then drain and flush the tank well before refilling and returning to service.
